Collection: Bill Colt
A little about Bill and his adventures...
Bill's creative journey began at an early age when his mother noticed him copying images of Superman and Batman from comic books. Shortly thereafter, she sent him to some art classes at the local museum. Eventually he became an art major at the University of Virginia, but his current style is mostly self-taught. His work is heavily influenced by fast cars (the more chrome the better), downtown city streets, vintage aircraft and animals. His colors come directly from their acrylic tubes. Not much mixing is required to achieve his bold color palette. Several years ago, he began incorporating texture and collage elements to the canvases before he started each painting. Look closely and you'll begin to see bits of vintage magazines, comic books, engineering manuals, and newspapers. That added element gives his work its signature style, adding an underlying dimension and is reminiscent of the graffiti that so often decorates the world around us.
